I admit, when it comes to Valentine’s Day hubby and I don’t have the best track record. Most of the time we actually forget! However, this year I’m planning to surprise him with one of these super low-cost ideas from www.simplesavings.co.nz. The only problem is deciding which one to pick!
Put a little love in your lunchbox. This romantic idea costs next to nothing and lasts well beyond February 14th! Draw or print eight heart shapes on a sheet of A4 paper (use as many sheets as you like) and cut out. Write ‘I love you because…’ followed by a different reason on each heart. Laminate if liked, then put them all in a ziplock bag and pop in your loved one’s lunchbox.
Think pink. Valentine’s Day isn’t just for grown-ups! Make the whole family feel special with a ‘pink’ themed dinner or afternoon tea. Some ideas include:
Marshmallows.
Watermelon.
Strawberries dipped in pink chocolate
Pink fairy cakes
Pink wafers or other biscuits
Pink ice cream
Raspberryade
Pink cocktail sausages
Salmon sandwiches
Jam sandwiches
Pink lollies and so on – you get the idea!
Test your love. How well does your Valentine know you? Sit down with your partner and work out a fun quiz for each other. Ask whatever questions you like, e.g. ‘What’s my favourite TV programme?’ ‘What is my favourite food?’, ‘What is my favouritecolour?’ etc. The only limit is your imagination!
Make it special with Martha. You’ll never be short of romantic ideas with the help of domestic goddess Martha Stewart. Visit http://www.marthastewart.com/valentines-day for fantastic cards, crafts and recipes that won’t break the bank. More heartfelt suggestions than you – or your Valentine – could possibly dream of!
DIY kit for true love.Get a suitable container and fill with the following for your Valentine:
A rubber (to erase the mistakes of the past)
A diary (to plan your lives ahead together)
A glue stick (to hold the pieces together)
Candles (to keep the romance burning)
An angel (to watch over them when you can’t)
A mini bottle of bubbly (to remember to celebrate the little things)
Chocolates (to keep them sweet!)
Give them your heart. An origami heart! Amaze your Valentine with your creative genius thanks to http://www.wikihow.com/Make-an-Origami-Heart
STILL stuck for inspiration? Go online and look up the lyrics to ‘Nine Million Bicycles by Katie Melua.’ Says it all when you can’t!
